Let’s call it what it is: a hate crime. I can’t even believe that something like this could still happen in this city. New York City is a place where people from all walks of life are able to just BE themselves. I am sick that this happened in the middle of the street, let alone in the Village, for no reason other than that this man was being true to himself. He was walking with a friend minding his own business and another man started to attack him verbally. Eventually Mark Carson & his friend walked away, but the man followed him & shot him at point blank range in the head. RIP Mark Carson. You are so completely and totally in my heart. We are still fighting to be ourselves, and that’s sickening. This is a tragedy. So sad. Where is the systemic change? 🙏
